Pulmonary Rehab is an individualized exercise and education program designed to teach patients to live and breathe better with chronic lung disease.

The 16-session program is directly overseen by Michael Poser, DO, and is managed by PRH's Cardiopulmonary Team.

The exercise portion consists of stretching and light weight lifting in a group setting, as well as the use of the treadmill, recumbent stepper, stationary bike, and arm exerciser. Education includes breathing techniques, the disease process, nutrition, medication, preventing infection, oxygen therapy, traveling with respiratory equipment, emotional and social wellbeing, support, smoking cessation, second-hand smoke, and safety issues.

The program is held Tuesday and Thursday mornings and is limited to eight people per group. Once patients complete the 16 sessions, they may register to attend a pulmonary rehabilitation maintenance program.

A physician referral is needed to enter the program.
